Admissions Office (AdO)

The Admission office (AdO) is the bridge of prospective students to a Malayan Colleges education. The office assist in the admission of all freshmen and transferees from entrance examinations to verification of documents during enrollment. The Admission Office also open the doorway to Malayan Education through promotion and marketing of the college in different high schools.

As we get ready for another school year, MCM admission Office has started accepting Senior High School and Freshmen applicants for SY 2020-2021.

Admission Exam Requirements

Before an applicant can take the Malayan Colleges Mindanao Admission Examination (MCMAE), we need to verify the eligibility of the applicant using photocopies of documents to confirm correctness of name, current grade level, and the current school being attended by the applicant.

  • Duly accomplished application form with attached 1½” x 1½” latest picture with plain background. Please download the form here.
  • Photocopy of school ID
  • 1 piece 1½” x 1½” identical pictures with plain background to be attached in the examination permit
  • Application fee:
    • Baccalaureate – PhP350.00
    • Senior High School- PhP300.00

No applicant will considered until all of the requirements have been received by the Admission Office before the chosen MCMAE schedule.

Admission Examination Schedule

Admission exam schedules are conducted every Saturday starting September 7, 2019 up to June 2020 and has two (2) sessions;

  • Morning Sessions: 8:30am to 11:00am. Results are released by 1:30pm of the same day.
  • Afternoon Sessions: 1:30pm to 4:00pm. Results are release by 5:00pm of the same day.

For applicants who are not available on a Saturday, please contact the Admissions Office for special weekday exam schedules.

Application Procedure

  1. Admission requirements must be submitted to the Admission Office at least a day before your preferred admission schedule.
  2. Pay the application fee to Treasury Office
    • SHS – PhP300.00
    • Baccalaureate – PhP350.00
  3. Present official receipt of payment to Admissions Office and get your exam permit
  4. Be at the exam room at least 15 minutes before the time schedule. Present your exam permit to the proctor and take the exam.

Exam results shall be released after the examination within the same day. The result will also be emailed to the applicant.

Admission Procedure for New Students

BACCALAUREATE PROGRAMS SY 2020-2021

New College Freshmen

Any applicant intending to enroll in MCM as a freshman may be admitted on the following basis:

  • Performance in the Malayan Colleges Mindanao Admissions Examination (MCMAE)
  • Choice of program and quota set for a specific program
  • Good Moral Character

To apply, a candidate must be a Grade 12 student, who never entered a college/university or who passed the Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS) or the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT).

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
  1. Duly accomplished application form
  2. Photocopy of any of the following:

    2.1.1 Grade 12 report card
    2.1.2 Certificate of Candidacy for Graduation
    2.1.3 Grade 12 School ID
    2.1.4 Bureau of Alternative Learning System (BALS) or Philippine Educational Placement Test Certificate of Passing

  3. Two (2) pieces 1.5” x 1.5” recent identical pictures
  4. PhP350.00 application fee
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
STEP 1

Submit all admission requirements to the Admissions Office (ADO). Incomplete requirements
may delay the application.

STEP 2

Pay the application fee (PhP350.00) to the Treasury Office.

STEP 3

Present the receipt of payment to ADO to secure a copy of exam permit

STEP 4

Present the exam permit to the proctor and take the MCMAE on the scheduled date (No permit, no exam policy applies)

Admissions Office must be updated of any changes in the applicant’s contact details such as email address, mailing address and contact numbers.
Exam results of the applicants will be forwarded through email after 3 working days.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS
To ensure a smooth process, enrollee must prepare all the listed enrollment requirements:

  1. Original grade 12 report card (SF9) duly signed by the Senior High School Principal showing (a) Applicant’s eligibility for admission to college and (b) Learner Reference Number
    1. The principal/adviser must countersign the report card if it has erasures or alteration
    2. The applicant must submit a certificate of the school’s numerical equivalent if the report card contains alpha grades
    3. If the applicant is a graduate of an international school, he/she must submit a report card including other school credentials duly authenticated by Philippine Foreign Service Post
    4. If the applicant is a graduate of previous years, the applicant must submit an original certificate from the Senior High School Principal stating that School Form 10 (Formerly Form 137-A) is still in the school file and has not been forwarded to any colleges or universities.
    5. If the original report card is not available upon enrollment, students through his/her parent/guardian are required to execute an Affidavit of Undertaking (Form is available at Admissions Office or downloadable at http://bit.do/Freshmen-AffidavitOfUndertaking). Accomplished Affidavit of Undertaking must be notarized and available upon enrollment.
  2. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the Senior High School Principal (issued January 2019 onwards and with school seal)
  3. Original copy or Authenticated NSO or PSA birth certificate.
    1. If the applicant is not a Filipino citizen, submit (a) original and photocopy of passport with at least 6 months’ validity; (b) Alien Certificate of Registration; (c) Student visa (9f) or student study permit
    2. If the applicant has dual citizenship, submit (a) Certificate of recognition as Filipino citizen or Philippine Passport; (b) Original copy or Authenticated NSO or PSA birth certificate
  4. Two (2) pieces 1.5” x 1.5” recent identical pictures (with plain background and signature at the back)
  5. One (1) piece long brown envelope
SCHOLARSHIP VALIDATION
For Valedictorians / Rank 1 and Salutatorians / Rank 2

  • Certificate of honors which includes the rank and number of graduating students signed by the Senior High School Principal (with school seal)

NON-FRESHMEN STUDENTS SY 2019-2020

TRANSFEREE
Any applicant intending to enroll in MCM as a transferee may be admitted on the following basis:

  • Performance in the Malayan Colleges Mindanao Examination (MCMAE)
  • Choice of program and quota set for a specific program
  • Good Moral Character

Transferees are those students who are from other colleges/universities, vocational or special training schools and students who wish to continue or pursue to another degree program. MCM may credit the courses previously taken provided, that the program is CHED accredited.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
  1. Duly accomplished admission form
  2. Original and photocopy of Transcript of Records (TOR) or of Certified True Copy of Grades
  3. Two (2) pieces 1.5” x 1.5” recent identical pictures with plain background
  4. Certified true copy of course description (for crediting purposes)
  5. PhP350.00 application fee

NOTES:

  • Mapúa and MCL transferees with good academic standing must take the admission examination. If passed, then proceed with the Pre-Enrollment procedures.
  • Mapúa and MCL transferees under probationary status or disqualified from the current Mapúa program must take the admission examination.
  • Applicant’s previous program should be CHED accredited in order for course to be credited.
  • For applicants who were absent / inactive for more than 5 years from the previous college or university, a recommendation letter (employer, barangay) shall be submitted in lieu of the good moral character certificate.
  • If the foreign applicant is not a native speaker of English, the applicant has to submit TOEFL/IELTS examination results.
  • Application and examination result valid for 1 academic year
  • Admission of non-freshmen will be done during regular terms only.

    1. Transfer Credential Certificate;
    2. Honorable Dismissal Certificate;
    3. Clearance to Transfer Certificate;
    4. Certificate of graduation (for degree holders)
  2. Original Transcript of Records (TOR)
    1. The applicant must submit a Transcript of Records
    2. If the applicant is a graduate from an international school, he /she must submit a TOR including other school credentials duly authenticated by Philippine Foreign Service Post
  3. Original or certified true copy of course/subject description
  4. Original good moral character certificate
  5. Two (2) original recommendation letters (for degree holders)
  6. Original copy or Authenticated NSO or PSA birth certificate.

SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL SY 2019-2020

To apply, a candidate must be a Grade 10 or 11 student, must pass the MCM Senior High School admissions examination (MSAE) and of good moral character.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
STEP 1

Submit the requirements to the Admissions Office

  1. Duly Filled application Form for Senior High School
  2. Photocopy of Grade 10 School ID or report card
  3. Photocopy of NSO/PSA birth certificate
  4. Two pieces 1.5” x 1.5” identical pictures with plain background

Additional requirements for Grade 11 and 12 Transferees

  1. Original and photocopy of Grade 11 Report Card
  2. Grade 11 Curriculum

STEP 2

Pay the application fee (PhP300.00).

STEP 3

Present official receipt of payment to the Admissions Office and secure exam permit and

STEP 4

Present the exam permit to the proctor and take the MCM Senior High School Admissions Examination on the scheduled date. Examinees must arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled time for an orientation.

Admissions Office must be updated of any changes in the applicant’s contact details such as email address, mailing address and contact numbers.
Exam results of the applicants will be forwarded through email after 3 working days.

Office of the Registrar (RO)

The Office of the Registrar serves as the central repository of all student records. The office is also in-charge with the reproduction of pertinent and relevant documents related to curriculum and course descriptions, authentication of students, and related documents, and the issuance of the diploma and transcript of records of students.

Registration in a course
Any students who enrolls in any course and who subsequently pays its corresponding fees shall, as a rule, report to and attend the class in that course from the start of classes. Failure to do so shall mean a grade of “ABS” (ABSENT) in the course unless he/she officially drops it through the Office of the Registrar and merits a grade of “DRP” (DROPPED).
Maximum course load
Under the Trimester Plus system of Malayan Colleges Laguna, the regular academic calendar consists of three (3) regular terms of twelve (12) weeks each. The maximum student load per term is prescribed by the curriculum of the student. It should, however, not exceed fifteen (15) academic units.
Pre-requisite Course Regulation
Students are given a structured program of study (curriculum) once they enrol in the college. Students are expected to self-manage their registration of courses each term.

As prescribed by the Commission on Higher Education, courses taken and completed without satisfying the prescribed pre-requisites shall not be given credit.

A student who receives a grade of “7.00” (INCOMPLETE) in a pre-requisite course shall not be allowed to take its advanced courses. The student must first complete/pass the pre-requisite course before he/she is allowed to take any of its advance courses.

Co-requisite Course Regulation
A co-requisite is a course which must be completed before, or enrolled concurrently with, the course for which it is prescribed.
Revision of course load
A student who has paid his/her fees during enrolment but who wishes to apply for revision due to erroneous course load may do so at the Office of the College Registrar during the “Revision of Load” period. Students must fill out the request form available at the Office of the College Registrar. Failure to revise the course load within the prescribed period shall mean payment of fees for dropped courses. A student enrolled in abolished classes shall be issued a refund provided he/she formally applies for a revision of his course load at the Office of the College Registrar during the prescribed period. Failure to revise the load shall be construed as a waiver of the right to refund of fees. No student shall be allowed to add courses to his/her current load after the revision period. Revision of course load should not
violate the following:

  • The pre-requisite course regulation
  • The co-requisite course regulation
Cancellation of enrollment
A student who wishes to cancel their enrollment should drop by the Registrar and present in writing the reason for cancellation. Cancellation of enrollment with refund is only allowed within two (2) weeks from the beginning of classes. Non-compliance with this requirement shall result in the forfeiture of the student’s right to any refund of fees paid by him/her in accordance with Section 66 of the 1998 Manual of Regulations for Private Schools that states:

When a student registers in a school, it is understood that he/she is enrolling for the entire school year for the elementary and secondary courses, and for the entire semester for the collegiate courses. A student who transfers or otherwise withdraws, and who has already paid the pertinent tuition and other school fees in full for any length of time longer than one month may be charged 10% of the total amount due for the term if he/she withdraws within the first
week of classes, or 20% if within the second week of classes, regardless of whether or not he/she has actually attended classes. The student may be charged all of the school fees in full if he/she withdraws any time after the second week of classes. However, if the transfer or withdrawal is due to a justifiable reason, the student shall be charged the pertinent fees only up to and including the last month of attendance.

The student shall not be allowed to cancel his/her enrolment without the written consent of his/her parents or guardian. The following documents must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar on or before the deadline set:

  • Application for Enrollment Cancellation
  • A letter from parents or guardian
  • Applicable support document/s should the cancellation be due to medical or health reasons
    1. Medical Certificate
    2. Medical Abstract

* A student who whishes to return in the following term after his/her cancellation of enrollment need not apply for reactiviation.
