SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL CAREER PATHWAYS
General Questions
- What is the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum? The Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum is DepEd’s improved curriculum designed to give learners stronger foundational skills and more flexible learning pathways aligned with their interests, career goals, and future college programs. At Mapúa MCM, this curriculum is delivered through our established Academic and Technical Professional (TechPro) Tracks, now organized around specific career pathways.
- How is the new curriculum different from the previous SHS curriculum? Instead of focusing primarily on broad strands, the new curriculum organizes learning through career pathways. Mapúa MCM learners take common foundational subjects while exploring elective subjects tied to one of nine pathways offered across our two tracks.
- Will Senior High School still have Grade 11 and Grade 12? Yes. Mapúa MCM learners will still complete both Grade 11 and Grade 12 before graduation.
- Will learners still be prepared for college? Yes. Mapúa MCM’s SHS program continues to strengthen communication, mathematics, science, critical thinking, and career readiness skills, while providing pathway-specific preparation that connects directly to Mapúa MCM’s college programs and other institutions.
Career Pathway Selection
- What is a career pathway? A career pathway is a group of subjects designed to prepare learners for specific college programs, professions, and industries. At Mapúa MCM, each pathway carries a distinct identity — for example, “Digital Architects” for Computing & Systems or “Market Leaders” for Business, Accounting & Entrepreneurship — reflecting the kind of professional the pathway is designed to shape.
- How do I choose a career pathway? Learners should choose a pathway based on their interests, strengths, career goals, and intended college program. Mapúa MCM’s guidance counselors, parents, and teachers are available to help learners make informed decisions during enrollment.
- What if I am still undecided about my future career? It is normal to be undecided. Learners may select the pathway that best matches their current interests while continuing to explore career options through classes, projects, and career guidance activities offered throughout Grades 11 and 12.
- Can parents help in choosing a pathway? Yes. Parents play an important role in discussing interests, strengths, and future goals with their child. However, the learner’s own interests and aspirations should also be considered, since they will be the one pursuing the pathway.

Mapúa MCM’s highly qualified faculty provide guidance and support throughout the learning process, supported by the school’s blended-learning approach and smart campus facilities.
- Can learners take college programs that are different from their pathway? Yes. While pathways provide stronger preparation for related college programs, learners may still apply to other college programs — at Mapúa MCM or elsewhere — subject to the admission requirements of the receiving institution.

Preparing for the Future
- How will the career pathways help learners after Senior High School? Mapúa MCM’s career pathways help learners develop relevant knowledge, skills, and experiences that support success in higher education, employment, entrepreneurship, and lifelong learning — continuing the school’s mission of producing graduates who are highly preferred by industry, in the Philippines and abroad.
- Who can help learners choose the most suitable pathway? Learners may consult their parents, Mapúa MCM guidance counselors, teachers, and school administrators for advice and support when selecting a pathway. The Admissions and Guidance offices can be reached at admissions@mcm.edu.ph or helpdesk@mcm.edu.ph.
