Continuing Sustainable Progress: Mapúa MCM Records Higher Score in UI GreenMetric 2026

Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao recorded a stronger overall sustainability performance in the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, increasing its total score to 4,805 points, up from 4,427.5 points in 2025. This represents a 377.5-point or 8.53% increase in the institution’s overall score.

The 2026 assessment also saw a significant expansion in global participation, with 2,016 institutions taking part, compared with 1,745 institutions in 2025. This represents a 15.5% increase in participating institutions. Amid the larger assessment pool, Mapúa MCM placed 77th nationally and 1,239th globally

Among the areas that contributed to the institution’s improved overall score was Transportation, which increased from 785 points in 2025 to 897.5 points in 2026, a gain of 112.5 points (+14.33%). This was accompanied by an increase in Setting and Infrastructure, from 445 to 460 points (+3.37%).

Mapúa MCM also maintained its performance in Water and Waste, with scores of 475 and 625 points, respectively. The 2026 assessment further introduced Governance and Development as a new category, under which Mapúa MCM recorded 650 points, reflecting another dimension of the institution’s sustainability performance.

The results highlight Mapúa MCM’s continuing efforts to integrate sustainability across campus operations, institutional development, and the learning environment. With sustainability remaining an important part of the institution’s continuing development, Mapúa MCM remains committed to strengthening initiatives and practices that support a more sustainable and responsible institution.
