On May 16, 2023, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao conducted a Memorandum of Understanding and a Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony with Davao Medical School Foundation Incorporated (DMSFI) for Affiliation and Base Hospital for College of Health Sciences (CHS) programs.

Through this partnership, students of Mapúa MCM taking up health sciences can expand their learning beyond the classroom setting. “With the partnership, our students will have the venue to learn in the hospital setting where they interact with patients and other health professionals,” shares Dr. Adorico Aya-ay, the MMCM Academic Consultant for CHS.

Leopoldo D. Aquino, MMCM Director for Office for Corporate Partnerships shares that as Mapúa MCM’s first partnership made with a hospital institution, being one of the schools in Davao schools to utilize its cutting-edge facilities is a privilege.

Dr. Aya-ay notes that “the partnership between Mapúa MCM’s CHS and DMSFI is timely and beneficial to both parties.” As the demand for healthcare providers grows, partnering with the right institution is necessary, and Mapúa MCM can assure the CHS students that they will learn a lot during the internship.

Aside from Affiliation and Base Hospital for CHS programs, the MOU also calls for DMSFI and MMCM to collaborate on Service-Learning and Community Engagement projects. “Although the two schools have different thrusts, we complement each other to better serve and impact the community,” says Marycon Delos Reyes, the MMCM Head for the Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement.
