Teachers Are Our World: A Celebration for World Teachers Day at MapúaMCM
In celebration of World Teacher’s Day, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao’s Senior High School department prepared a special event on October 4, 2019 at the MapúaMCM Plaza. Teachers from Grades 11 to 12 gathered to see what was in store, taking their seats as the SHS Student Council prepared for the starting of the program.
The program officially began with Opening Remarks from the Student Council President, Ms. Kayela Lago, who thanked everyone in attendance and officially welcomed everyone to the celebration of MapúaMCM’s Teacher’s Day. To get the crowd pumped, the Malayan Dance Company came in with their performance for the PRISAAyawan 2019 dance competition and wowed the crowd with their dynamic routine. Following this was a very touching video presentation prepared by all the Senior High School classes, wishing their teachers a Happy Teacher’s Day. As the videos played, all the teachers were presented with a certificate that showed MapúaMCM’s appreciation of their hard work and passion, spelling out ‘World’s Best Teacher’ in bold letters.
Later on, some fun games were played for Grades 11 and 12 separately wherein they would play ‘4 Pics, 1 Word’ and guess based on four pictures who the teacher was. After every game, the students would stand up and present their gifts to their teachers as songs by Mr. Jan Josef Juanillo and band, and Ms. Juvylane Tumulak were performed in the background, bringing about a warm and touching atmosphere as students ran to their teachers and presented them with their gifts and sincere words of appreciation.
After the music, laughter and hugs came the closing remarks which were led by the Senior High School principal, Dr. Flora Mae C. Yparraguirre, Ph.D. She expressed her gratitude for all the teachers and students who participated in the event and left a message for the student body to ponder upon that teacher’s day.
“Put value in all the things your teachers are sharing to you… It’s not just about you doing quizzes, exams or performance tasks but it’s all about life-long learning.” she shares.
The event ends with the start of a performance from the teachers as the Open Mic event began with Ms. Ostique Mara starting off the line-up. The teachers and students gathered together in joy as they continued to sing and dance for the rest of the event, capping off the program with a heartfelt dedication to our wonderful MapúaMCM faculty – and to the rest of the amazing teachers of the world, we love you and appreciate you. Happy Teacher’s Day!
