Connecting the Community: Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao Partners with PLDT, Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc.
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao, a Mapúa School has partnered with PLDT, Inc. and its subsidiary, Smart Communications, Inc. — commonly referred to as Smart — a wholly-owned wireless communications and digital services provider, to help provide its students and employees with sims, load, and WiFi at affordable rates, along with means of broadcasting information through their InfoCast platform.
On July 17, 2020, Smart came to the MapúaMCM Campus to sell discounted products at rates as low as P10 for a prepaid sim and P100 for a Prepaid PLDT Home WiFi to the employees and faculty present. This event served as one of the starting points to MapúaMCM and Smart’s dedication to providing means of easy communication and connection for the rest of the community especially in these difficult times where the connection is not only a want but a need when working and learning from home.

Though the event may have shown the furthering of this partnership’s goal, it is not the beginning of MapúaMCM’s partnership with PLDT and Smart. In early March 2020, MapúaMCM had first started its partnership with both through the launching of an InfoCast broadcasting platform to help MapúaMCM disseminate information and announcements to its students, parents, and employees through text message broadcast. Through this, Malayans can get all the latest information and news without a need to connect on the internet.
Since MapúaMCM’s enrollment period, this has served as a great tool to utilize in forming better communications internally between MapúaMCM offices and to provide better services for the students and enrollees. To MapúaMCM students, faculty, and staff that have not yet subscribed to MapúaMCM’s InfoCast system, they may register their number at this link.
This is in MapúaMCM’s interest to help spread information to a wider audience and provide those without strong WiFi connection access to more affordable options. PLDT and Smart’s responsibilities include but are not limited to this very purpose — to help boost the WiFi signal of the MapúaMCM Community and provide effective channels of communication.
