The activity brought together first-, second-, and third-year Bachelor of Science in Biology students enrolled in Zoology, Systematics, and Evolutionary Biology laboratory courses. The educational tour aimed to enhance students’ understanding of biological concepts by connecting theoretical discussions with real-world applications in a controlled natural environment.
Students observed various crocodile species in their habitats.
During the visit, students engaged in guided observations of various animal species, allowing them to develop essential skills in identifying, analyzing, and classifying organisms. Close encounters with wildlife, including birds, reptiles, and other fauna, enabled students to deepen their appreciation of biodiversity and ecological relationships. These hands-on experiences reinforced key concepts in zoology, systematics, and evolutionary biology, supporting a more comprehensive understanding of life sciences.

Facilitated by park personnel, the sessions provided insights into animal behavior, habitat management, and conservation efforts. Students were also introduced to the role of wildlife facilities in education, research, and environmental awareness, further emphasizing the importance of preserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable practices.

Through immersive and inquiry-based learning activities, the tour fostered critical thinking, scientific curiosity, and professional competence among students. The experience also highlighted the value of field-based education in strengthening foundational knowledge and preparing future biologists for research and industry engagement.
This initiative reflects Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao’s commitment to delivering relevant and experiential education that bridges theory and practice. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), the activity underscores the institution’s continuous efforts to promote collaborative learning experiences and academic excellence in the field of biological sciences.
