Recognized for Teaching and Learning
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao has been named a winner of the Catalyst Award for Teaching and Learning, which honors institutions that use Blackboard as a learning management system in innovative ways to advance learning.
Founded in 2005, the annual Catalyst Awards recognize and honor innovation and excellence in the Anthology global community of practice, where millions of educators and learners work every day to redefine what is possible when leveraging technology. Winners are selected by a cross-functional team of Anthology experts and represent the very best in their field. The Catalyst Awards were expanded when Anthology and Blackboard combined in 2021.
“HyFlex (or hybrid flexible) is convenient and the perfect blend of physical and virtual learning – and that’s something that every Mapúa Malayan should be proud of. Blackboard is the backbone of the initiative since it caters to everyone else who cannot participate in the limited face-to-face aspect.” shared Josef Mika-el M. del Corro, the Head of Innovations in Digital Environments and Learning Solutions (IDEaLS).
“As instructors, our performance in instructional delivery has been greatly enhanced due to the HyFlex approach. We can access our classes literally anywhere in the world and still deliver the exact same level of excellence that the Mapúa name strives to uphold. It gives us a sense of ubiquity, meaning we can teach anywhere and our students can learn anywhere,” said Engr. John Paul T. Cruz, an instructor at the College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Department.
“We’re pleased to honor this year’s Catalyst Award winners for their commitment to improving the educational experience for all learners through EdTech and sharing these insights with the broader community,” said Jim Milton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Anthology. “We’re proud to partner with institutions who are innovating to advance student success.”
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao will also be announced alongside other Catalyst Award winners during Anthology Together, Anthology’s annual user conference to be held July 11-14 in Orlando, Florida.
