Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) received recognition as a Tier 1 institution during the 4th Accreditation Conference for Engineering (ACE 2026), organized by the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) on October 15, 2026, at the University of Makati Auditorium. This milestone affirms the institution’s commitment to academic quality, strong governance, and continuous improvement in engineering education.
The Tier 1 classification recognizes institutional capability, governance, and quality assurance systems that support engineering education aligned with international standards. Under PTC’s classification system, accredited engineering programs offered by Tier 1 institutions are eligible for recognition under the Washington Accord, an international agreement that facilitates the recognition of accredited engineering qualifications among its signatories.
PTC became the Washington Accord’s 25th full signatory on June 12, 2024, strengthening opportunities for international recognition of Philippine engineering qualifications. Mapúa MCM’s recognition reflects the importance of maintaining robust academic systems and engineering programs that prepare graduates to meet professional standards and contribute to an increasingly interconnected global industry.

Mapúa MCM joins fellow iPeople institutions Mapúa University, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna, and the University of Nueva Caceres, which were also recognized during ACE 2026. This collective achievement highlights the continuing efforts of iPeople institutions to advance quality engineering education and strengthen academic standards.
The recognition aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, through its emphasis on quality assurance and continuous improvement in engineering education; SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by supporting the preparation of engineers equipped to contribute to technological innovation and sustainable infrastructure; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration with accreditation bodies and the international engineering education community.
