Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) reinforced its commitment to global research and academic excellence as faculty members and student researchers from the College of Computer and Information Science (CCIS) participated in the International Conference on Software Technology and Engineering (ICSTE 2025), held at Liberty Central Nha Trang, Vietnam. The conference served as a platform for researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to exchange insights and advancements in software technology and engineering.
The Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao representatives were composed of faculty members Dean Rhodessa J. Cascaro, Cherry B. Lisondra, Rogelio O. Badiang Jr., Clyde Chester R. Balaman, Neil P. Magloyuan, Christopher Josh L. Dellosa, Martzel P. Baste, Daisy Ann M. Arzaga, and Robie Bryan B. Jacaban, along with student researchers James Nathaniel F. Tan, Katherine Q. Canama, Hilario B. Arriesgado II, Jules Dominic Y. Aspera, CJ Tom Carlos M. Lagulos, Marc Steven Q. Marquez, JC Roy P. Lopez, Jonas Gabriel L. Rusiana, Gwyn Ann S. Lobaton, Adrian C. Gamutan, James Paul U. Carballo, Aisha Nicole L. Dones, Ken Gyrro P. Acquiat, James Andrei C. Nadela, Steven Mark B. Ontanillas, Jomer R. Mandap, Daniel John Henrick D. Sanchez, Renzi S. Albastro, Trixie Nin D. Cañete, Ijed Luzele J. Yañez, Adrianne Faye M. Dela Serna, J-Mar R. Dolorito, Kienth Justine I. Javines, Stacey Andrew M. Gonzaga, Kenji Azriel S. Mende, Rich Adrian Y. Huang, and Joshua U. Sevilla. They presented their research and engaged in academic discussions with international peers. The event provided valuable exposure to emerging trends, innovative methodologies, and collaborative opportunities in the field, further strengthening the institution’s research culture and global academic presence.
A highlight of the participation was the recognition of student researchers, including a Best Presenter award, which underscored the quality and impact of Mapúa MCM’s research contributions on an international stage.
Reflecting on the experience, researcher Ms. Aisha Nicole Dones, a 4th Year Computer Science Student at Mapúa MCM shared, “It was such an incredible honor to represent Mapúa MCM at ICSTE 2025 in Vietnam… I am deeply proud to have presented our team’s research and won the Best Presenter award, as it allowed us to showcase our innovation for the future of speech therapy in the Philippines on a global stage,”.
Other student participants also highlighted the value of the experience. “Attending ICSTE 2025 was a really meaningful experience for me, as it was my first time presenting our accepted paper internationally. It felt rewarding to share our work while also learning from others,” shared J-Mar R. Dolorito, while James Nathaniel F. Tan noted, “Attending ICSTE 2025 in Vietnam was a major highlight of our academic year… it was incredibly inspiring to present our work and see the innovations shared by other professionals.”
Through this participation, Mapúa MCM continues to expand its global academic footprint, empower student researchers, and foster innovation in computing and information systems. The initiative supports the University’s commitment to SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, reflecting its dedication to developing globally competitive graduates and impactful research.
