The nationwide initiative aimed to reinforce earthquake awareness and emergency response readiness by encouraging individuals and communities to practice essential safety procedures. During the drill, the Mapúa MCM community participated in the prescribed emergency response protocol, particularly the “DUCK, COVER, and HOLD” procedure, which helps protect individuals from potential injuries during an earthquake.
Students practice duck, cover, and hold positions inside the classroom.
Through active participation, Mapúa MCM continues to promote a culture of preparedness and shared responsibility, ensuring that students, faculty members, and personnel are better equipped to respond appropriately during emergencies. Regular earthquake drills also help strengthen familiarity with safety protocols, improve coordination, and build confidence in responding to unforeseen situations.
Students evacuate in an orderly manner while protecting their heads as they move to the designated area.
The activity supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, particularly the promotion of safer and more resilient communities through disaster risk reduction and preparedness. It also aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting practices that help protect lives and reduce the risk of injury during emergencies
