21st Century Journalists: MapúaMCM’s DSPC 2019 Placers
On September 19 – 21, 2019 – the MapúaMCM Senior High School students participated in the Davao Schools Press Conference (DSPC) at Jose Maria College, Davao City. Led by coaches Alvin John Aligato and Hanna Valencerina, twenty-three MapúaMCM SHS students competed in both individual and group categories.
In the first rounds of individual contests, our students performed excellently with Sean Pasawilan nabbing 2nd place in Sports Writing (Filipino), Amber Trizia Seras nabbing 5th place in Science and Technology Writing (English), and Denmar Ardina Pepito and Cleinth Mark Llano placing 6th in Photojournalism and Sports Writing (English) respectively. With this, Sean Pasawilan and Amber Trizia Seras are eligible as Regional School’s Press Conference (RSPC) qualifiers and will proceed to Nueva Vizcaya on November 12- 15, 2019.
For the group categories, three groups from MapúaMCM participated – Paul John E. Cultura, Christian Vincent Wing, John Nicholas A. Garrido, Athena Marie V. Getizo, Jose Enrique J. Mempin, Alyssa Clerino Sulog and Carmela Bornales for the Radio Script Writing and Broadcasting Contest nabbed Second place for Best Infomercial, Fourth Place for Best Anchor and Fifth Place for Best in Technical Application. Next, we have Louis Raphael Q. Lagare, Edrianne Angeli L. Cervantes, Carmila Castro, Daniel-Tristan Sace and Ariel Espanto for the Online Publishing Contest; winning Third place overall. Lastly, we have Lexus Josef L. Javines, Jelo Christiane T. Camiña, Francis Gabriel B. Briola, Justine Jacob P. Ramon, Danah Margaret B. Villagonzalo, Adnan B. Abolcair and Amer Shalem D. Abantas for Scriptwriting and TV Broadcasting; nabbing Second place in Best in Developmental Communication and Scriptwriting and TV Broadcasting, and Third Place in Best Graphics.
