Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao’s (Mapúa MCM) Office for Research, Development, and Innovation (ORDI) successfully conducted the first call of the Outstanding Student Research Awards (OSRA) 2026 on April 16, 2026, at the RG Birrey Building.

OSRA serves as the institution’s premier recognition program for outstanding undergraduate research outputs, highlighting excellence in research, innovation, and scholarly achievement among students. The awards recognize research projects that demonstrate academic rigor, innovation, and potential contributions to society and industry.

The first call of OSRA 2026 featured research presentations from students of the College of Computer and Information Science (CCIS), with awards conferred for research excellence and poster presentation. The event provided a platform for students to showcase the outcomes of their research endeavors and engage with the broader research community within the institution.

Student-presenters respond to questions from the panel of evaluators during the question-and-answer portion of the research presentation.

This year’s OSRA also marks a significant milestone for ORDI, as it is the first time that two award calls are scheduled within a single academic year. A second call is expected in July 2026 to provide additional opportunities for recognizing exemplary student research across the institution.

Through initiatives such as OSRA, Mapúa MCM continues to strengthen its research culture by encouraging student engagement in scholarly inquiry, innovation, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. Awardees will also be formally recognized during the graduation ceremonies in acknowledgment of their outstanding academic and research achievements.
