In line with its mission to produce globally competitive and job-ready graduates, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) successfully held the “Career Toolkit V2: Writing a Killer Resume and Acing Your Job Interview” on April 25, 2025. The event took place at the Global Classroom Mapúa MCM, and was simultaneously streamed via Zoom and Facebook Live, ensuring accessibility for a wider audience. The webinar was made possible through the collaborative efforts of JobStreet by SEEK PH, the Mapúa MCM College Alumni Association, the Department of Labor and Employment Region XI (DOLE-XI), and the Davao City Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
Held just days before Labor Day, the webinar aimed to empower students and job seekers with essential knowledge and practical strategies in resume writing and job interview preparation. These two components remain critical in the job application process, especially in a competitive employment landscape. According to a 2023 report by JobStreet, companies hiring fresh graduates tend to prioritize interview performance, while also giving importance to candidates’ attitudes and punctuality. These findings highlight how crucial it is for job seekers to present themselves effectively and professionally throughout the hiring process.
The Career Toolkit V2 session provided participants with key industry-backed insights to help improve their employability, reinforce their confidence, and better position themselves for job opportunities. It also aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. The event reflected Mapúa MCM’s dedication to ensuring that education translates into meaningful and sustainable employment outcomes through strategic partnerships and community engagement.
The webinar drew a total of 48 attendees, including both onsite and online participants from various departments. Students from the College of Engineering and Architecture, with additional attendees coming from the High School department, the College of Arts and Science, and the Alfonso T. Yuchengco College of Business.
Through engaging presentations, real-world advice, and collaborative input from industry and government partners, the Career Toolkit V2 initiative served as a valuable platform for bridging the gap between education and employment. Mapúa MCM remains committed to supporting students and graduates in their career journeys by fostering opportunities that build confidence, sharpen professional skills, and prepare them to thrive in a competitive job market.
