Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) received recognition at the 2025 Lunhaw Awards on September 26, 2025, taking home awards in two categories: the Pollution Control Award and the Circular Economy Award. This recognition highlights Mapúa MCM’s strong commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
The institution was awarded for relevant initiatives such as the Plastic Pitch-In Project which transforms discarded plastics into functional fixtures, including park benches now made entirely from recycled materials. This project serves as a visible reminder of Mapúa MCM’s efforts to reduce waste and promote sustainable practices on campus, advancing Sustainable Development Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production and Sustainable Development Goal 13: Climate Action.

The Lunhaw Awards honors impactful environmental initiatives across categories such as Pollution Control, Organic Farming, Energy and Water Conservation, Marine Resource Management, and Education and Advocacy. Each winner demonstrates how local action can drive meaningful change for a greener Davao City.
This recognition reinforces Mapúa MCM’s role as a leader in sustainability and a catalyst for positive environmental change, inspiring the community to take part in building a cleaner, more sustainable future.
