Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao Students Engage in Mapúa Masterclass Series 2025 on Global Learning and Innovation

Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) students participated in the Mapúa Masterclass Series 2025, a collaborative learning program featuring thought leaders and experts across various disciplines. The series aimed to provide students with transformative learning experiences through insights and hands-on perspectives relevant to their academic fields.

These masterclasses, organized in collaboration with various Mapúa schools and partner universities, brought together students from different programs to learn from esteemed industry professionals, reinforcing Mapúa MCM’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and global engagement.

On September 8, 2025, the School of Health Sciences of Mapúa University, in collaboration with Sunway University and the Office of the Partnership Executive Director, hosted a double-feature masterclass on psychology and health sciences. BS Biology and BS Psychology students from Mapúa MCM joined the sessions via the Mapúa MCM Global Classroom and Zoom. The discussions featured Dr. Mah Sue Lynn, Lecturer from the School of Psychology, and Dr. Nancy Choon-Si Ng, Senior Lecturer from the Department of Medical Education, both from the Faculty of Medical and Life Sciences of Sunway University. Dr. Lynn discussed “The Evolution of Psychological Testing,” while Dr. Ng tackled “One Health: Integrating Human, Animal, and Environmental Health.”

The series continued on October 8, 2025, through the joint efforts of the College of Health Sciences of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna, Mapúa University, and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao. Students from BS Biology, BS Physical Therapy, BS Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science, and even core programs such as Mechanical Engineering participated in the session. Dr. Jabez Joshua M. Flores, Environmental Scientist and Licensed Drone Pilot from the University of the Philippines Open University – Los Baños, served as the guest speaker. His talk, “Innovative Aerial Research: Harnessing Drones for Science, Engineering, and Aviation Advances,” highlighted how drone technology supports sustainable research and development initiatives.

The series continues to offer insightful sessions across Mapúa schools, with the most recent held on October 22, 2025, organized by the Enrique T. Yuchengco School of Business (ETYCB) of Mapúa University. BS Entrepreneurship students from Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao attended the session featuring Mr. Paulo Campos III, founder of Kaya Founders and Zalora Philippines. His lecture, “Catalyzing Nation-Building through Startup Investing and Entrepreneurship,” emphasized how innovation, leadership, and strategic investment drive economic growth and social impact.

Through these collaborative initiatives, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao continues to strengthen its mission of developing globally competitive students who are equipped to create sustainable and innovative solutions in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
