Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM), along with its sister schools Mapúa University and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Laguna (Mapúa MCL), participated in the 2024 WURI Global Conference, held from September 24 to 26 at the aSSIST University campus in Seoul, South Korea. The WURI Global Conference was also participated by other institutions from 22 countries.
In attendance from Mapúa MCM were Dr. Melwin G. Mende, Director of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Office (QAEO), and Larissa Marie M. Baarde, Director of the Marketing and Communications (MARCOMM) office. In attendance from Mapúa University and Mapúa MCL were Engr. Joyrence Mervin Q. Agas, Director of the Office of Social Orientation and Community Involvement Programs (SOCIP), and James Ronald O. Mesina, Assistant Vice President for the Office of External Relations and Global Linkages (OERGL), respectively.
Dr. Mende and Ms. Baarde presented the innovative programs of Mapúa MCM, which includes the promotion of its FLUX program during the COVID-19 pandemic, its various Student Wellness Activities, the Plastic Pitch-In Project, its Outcomes-Based Education Framework, and its Patron Assistance Intervention and Development (PAID) Fund program.
In addition, Dr. Mende and Ms. Baarde were part of the selected Board Members for the World University Network for Innovation (WUNI) Experts.
The primary goal of Mapúa MCM’s participation in the WURI Global Conference was to present the best practices of the institution through its innovative programs. It can be recalled that Mapúa MCM secured three (3) rankings from WURI last June 7: Rank 82 on Category A1 – Student Support and Engagement, Rank 54 on Category B4 – Symbol, and Rank 82 on Category B5 – Culture/Values.
