A Sister School Collaboration with Malayan Colleges Laguna to Help the Community
A year after the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the Department of Health (DOH) stated on August 9, 2021, that the Philippines is once again categorized as “high risk” due to the increase of cases infected by the Delta variant.
Recently, Davao City has been placed under Alert Level 4 which means “the risk classification is moderate to critical and has a healthcare utilization higher than 70%, regardless of the presence of the more transmissible Delta variant” according to DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
With this, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao followed suit after its sister school, Malayan Colleges Laguna, A Mapúa School (MCL) in the launching of their COVID-19 Case Tracker which was initially developed last year for Laguna. This year, the team remodeled the tracker with data from the Davao region.
The tracker was developed by the skillful faculty, students, and alumni of the MCL College of Computer and Information Science (CCIS), spearheaded by CCIS Dean Kristian G. Kikuchi, Prof. Dennis A. Martillano, John Noel J. Corpuz, John Disonglo, Mark Anthony Hernandez (alumni), Donmarc Bryan Salcedo, Janrey Valenzuela, and Job Lipat (students).
“In partnership with our sister school Malayan Colleges Laguna, this COVID-19 Tracker was developed to keep the Davao City community informed to help mitigate the threat brought by the pandemic. Let us all do our part to protect the vulnerable members of our community. Keep safe!” stated Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, President and CEO of the Malayan Colleges.
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao hopes that this tracker helps in raising awareness and continuing to combat COVID-19. Through our collaborative efforts to combat COVID-19 in the Davao City community to create a healthier and safer environment, we may see ourselves celebrating the Kadayawan Festival, Araw ng Dabaw, barangay fiestas, Noche Buenas, and more, once again with our loved ones.
As we continue to follow the mandates implemented by the local government, MapúaMCM believes we are one step closer to the approval of conducting limited face-to-face classes, which MapúaMCM has duly prepared for by providing Flexible Learning Options.
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao is now accepting applicants for Junior High School, Senior High School, and College. Apply now!
