On June 20, 2023, the United Davao Specialists Hospital and Medical Center and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao signed a Memorandum of Agreement hoping to collaborate on future academic opportunities and training for Mapúa MCM’s College of Health Sciences pre-medical programs.
The partnership aims for UNIDAV to become a Base Hospital and an affiliated center for the training of BS Biology interns (Practicum), BS Pharmacy interns (Hospital Pharmacy Internship, Specialization Internship), and BS Physical Therapy interns (on-the-job training or internship).
Students will gain firsthand experience with the realities of healthcare while being guided by experienced medical professionals, allowing them to apply their knowledge in a practical setting.
Representing UNIDAV were the members of their Board of Directors — Dr. Maria Lourdes B. Lacanilao, Radiologist; Dr. Ryan Albert Leonard N. Boquiren, Ancillary Director; Dr. Kathrina Victoria B. Angeles, ER Department Chair; Dr. Vanina A. Htun-Javier, HR Director.
Representing Mapúa MCM were Engr. Alejandro H. Ballado Jr, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer; Mr. Leopoldo Aquino, Director of the Office for Corporate Partnerships; Dr. Adorico Aya-ay, Dean of the College of Health Sciences; and Marycon delos Reyes, Head of the Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement.
Mapúa MCM and UNIDAV hope to inspire and pave the way for students who want to pursue professional careers in the medical field through this collaboration, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
