CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS  (CIP)

An avenue for international academic and non-academic activities. The center provides support and assistance for international programs such as international conferences, competitions, summer and work immersion, and student and cultural exchange programs with the goal of producing globally aware students.

SERVICES

International Partnerships and Collaborations
  • CIP forges partnerships with universities and industries outside the country for international activities 
  • This experience or exposure may be participation in any of the following activities such as but not limited to: 
  • Student Exchange Program – student studies for one or two semesters at an MMCM partner institution. The number of units that the exchange student will take will depend on the agreement between Mapúa and the host university per term. 
  • International Summer Immersion – students travel to partner universities to join in their international summer immersion. 
  • International Work Immersion – students conduct their internship abroad at an MMCM partner industry. 
  • International Plant Visit – students with plant visits in the curriculum go abroad to match the theoretical knowledge learned inside the classroom with the actual production systems and business processing of plants. 
  • Physical or Online Conference – Students attending, either as a participant or presenter, an international conference, or a local conference with international experts, relevant to their program or personal development. 
  • International Academic Competition – students participate in any virtual or physical international academic competition with approval from their respective Dean or Program Chair. 
  • Collaborative Online International Learning – students participate in courses under COIL as agreed by Mapua and the partner university. 
  • Research Internship – activity and/or program which involves research by which students are supervised by a qualified adviser/professor and part of a group of foreign researchers. 
  • Foreign Language Training – Completing basic foreign language training including but not limited to Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean.

Student Global Experience (SGE)

The Student Global Experience (SGE) is an institutional, zero-unit course embedded in the curriculum of all programs. It requires all students to participate in an international experience, which may include but is not limited to paper presentations, physical or online international conferences, and research internships, all of which can be credited under the SGE course. Upon completing any approved international activity, students must apply for credit by submitting the necessary documents as proof of participation.

The student shall apply for crediting of SGE100 after obtaining his international experience by submitting the fully accomplished form along with the required submittals as described below to iPrograms@mcm.edu.ph for crediting.

  • Virtual programs such as Virtual Internship, Virtual Exchange Progam, and COIL shall be validated by the director of OCP. No additional proof is required.

COLAB: Collaborative Online Learning Across Borders

What is COLAB?
  • The Collaborative Online Learning Across Borders or the COLAB Program is a collaborative initiative that connects Mapúa MCM students to international institutions through virtual, global learning opportunities. This program enhances the Student Global Experience (SGE) requirement by providing students access to international educational events without the logistical challenges of travel. 
  • The COLAB program is open to all Mapúa MCM students and participants from international partner institutions. Courses and programs are selected based on the themes, academic focus, and collaboration opportunities provided by our international partners. 
  • Virtual exchanges  
  • Online international events and webinars  
  • Collaborative projects with international partner institutions 
  • The length of COLAB programs varies, but they typically range from a day to a few weeks, depending on the nature of the program. 
  • For Mapúa MCM students, you may contact your deans/program chairs for available events. You may also reach out to the Center for International Programs at iprograms@mcm.edu.ph For International students, you may contact your home institutions for further details. 
  • Mapúa MCM is actively seeking for international university partners to collaborate on exciting international projects, virtual exchanges, and online events.
