LIST AND GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

Malayan Colleges Mindanao is a school for global standards and of great significance locally and beyond; as one of the leading institutes in the country, many students desire to become a part of MCM community. The Center for Scholarships and Financial Assistance provides students different scholarships, academic grants, financial aids, and all other services to deserving and students in need. 

Goal and Purpose:

  • Provide students who are financially distressed an option to continue their studies with the aid of different scholarships and/or financial assistance.
  • Stipulate the requirements, qualifications, benefits, and any important details about the different scholarships and financial assistance provided by MCM.

MCM SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

E.T. Yuchengco Institutional Scholarship

The scholarship is given to incoming students who have remarkably performed well in the Malayan Colleges Mindanao Admissions Examination (MCMAE) and have passed the scholarship exam and interview. The scholarship is subject to availability of slots.

Benefits:
Free full tuition, L/F/D and miscellaneous fees
Learning materials worth P2,000 per term

Retention Policy:
Baccalaureate
     • The student must carry a load of not less than twelve (12) units and obtain a credit term average of 2.00 or better at the end of the term.
Senior High School
     • The student must obtain a credit grade average of 90% or better at the end of the term.

Qualifications: Income of (both) parent/s must not exceed P300,000

Requirements: ITR or any proof of annual income (without tax)

Note: Qualified and interested students are subjected to take a validation exam.

 

YGC & Ayala Promotional Discount

Either parent must be a regular employee with good standing of any YGC/Ayala company. Applications must be submitted to the Human Resources office of MCM every term and must meet the deadline set by the HR and CSFA.

Benefits: 25% discount on tuition and L/F/D fees.

Requirements:

  • Certificate of Employment of parent (every term)
  • YGC/Ayala form and waiver (provided by MCM) signed by the HR of the company (every term)
  • PSA Marriage certificate (photocopy)
  • PSA Birth certificate (photocopy)

 

Sibling Discount

The sibling discount may be availed by a college student with at least one sibling currently enrolled at MCM. The students should be full siblings (not step/half-siblings).

Note: (In case the older sibling drops out and/or a transferee, the discount will be pro-rated accordingly.)

Benefits:

  • Younger of two – 10% discount on tuition fee
  • Youngest of three – 25% discount on tuition fee
  • Youngest of four – 40% discount on tuition fee

Requirements:

  • Duly accomplished application form
  • PSA Birth certificate of student and sibling/s currently enrolled in MCM (photocopy)

 

Referral Discount

The discount is given to a ‘Referrer’, who is part of the MCM Community, specifically a student who was enrolled in the previous semester/term (SY2019-2020). Referrals can be those who are incoming College students, Transferees, and another degree student.

Benefits:
5% discount on Tuition fee only for 1-2 referrals
10% discount on Tuition fee only for 3-4 referrals
15% discount on Tuition fee only for 5-6 referrals
20% discount on Tuition fee only for 7 and more referrals

Retention Policy: The discount is good for one semester/term only.

Qualifications:
    • The Referrer is part of the MCM Community – a student who was enrolled in the previous semester/term (SY 2019-2020).
    • The Referral is an incoming College Student, Transferee, and another degree student; Referrals can be multiple (more than one).
    • Current MCM Grade 12 students who will proceed as College Freshmen in MCM are not qualified as Referrals.

Note:  The Admissions Office will forward a message of confirmation to the mobile number provided in the link. This message also confirms if the Referral is qualified/accepted. Admissions Office will notify the Referrer entitled for the reward through the submitted contact details.

 

Study Aid

The grant is applicable up to 3 legitimate children of regular employees (teaching and non-teaching). It is applicable up to total number of units prescribed by the program. In case the student transfers from one program to another, the grant is applicable to the total number of units of the program with lesser number of units.

Benefits: 50% Discount on tuition fees on all MCM programs for up to 3 legitimate children. The remaining 50% plus other fees relevant to the enrollment of the child may be paid thru salary deduction but must be fully paid within the term.

Retention Policy: Regular employment of the employee.

FOR BACCALAUREATE

Loyalty Discount

The discount is granted to applicants who are MCM Grade 12 graduates that enroll in a certain period of time (to be announced by the Admissions office). For AY 2020-2021, the enrollment period with 10% discount will be March 30 to April 30, 2020.

Benefits: 10% discount on tuition fee only

Retention Policy: The discount is good for one term only.

 

Dean’s List

Every end of each regular term, all colleges of MCM will recognize the exemplary academic achievement of all its students through DEAN’S LIST.

Qualification to become a DEAN’S LISTER are as follows:

  • Must have a Term-Weighted Average (TWA) of 1.75 or better;
  • Must not have any grade of “5.00”, “FA”, “F”, “INC”, or “C”
  • Must have taken at least 12 academic units of course load;
  • Must not have received any disciplinary action/sanction

Category and Benefits:

Partial Academic Scholarship

Dean’s Lister with TWA of 1.75 to 1.51 and belonging to the top 5% of his/her Program’s total population will be entitled to 50% discount on tuition and laboratory fees for the succeeding regular term.

Full Academic Scholarship

Dean’s Lister with TWA of 1.50 to 1.00 and belonging to the top 5% of his/her Program’s total population will be entitled to full discount on tuition and laboratory fees for the succeeding regular term.

 

Jose Rizal Scholarship

Sponsor: Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement (CSCE)

The Jose Rizal Scholarship is awarded to any applicant that has the passion for community service and adheres to the core advocacies of the institution. The program aims to impart the spirit of nationalism, volunteerism, environmental and socio-economic awareness amongst its grantees. Applications must be submitted to the Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement office every term and must meet the deadline set by the CSCE and Scholarship offices.

Benefits: 50% Discount on tuition and laboratory fees and may avail of the scholarship for a maximum of two (2) terms.

Retention Policy: First NSTP term should have at least a TWA of 2.5

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Filipino citizen
  • Must be enrolled to an NSTP course
  • Annual family income (combined income of parents and/or guardians) must not exceed P500,000.

For Senior High School

Academic Honoree Scholarship

The scholarship grants are given to applicants who are Rank No. 1 and Rank No. 2 in a school class of at least 20 Grade 10 completers.

Benefits:

  • Rank 1 – 100% tuition and L/F/D fee discount for two (2) consecutive terms.
  • Rank 2 – 50% tuition and L/F/D fee discount for two (2) consecutive terms.

Retention Policy: The student must have no failing grades and obtain a credit term average of 85% or better at the end of the term.

Requirements: Original certificate of ranking with school seal

 

MCM Cup Top 3

The scholarship grant is for the 1st – 3rd placers/winners of the MCM Cup events specifically Brainmasters, Math Quiz Show and Science Quiz Show.

Benefits: They are entitled to receive 100% scholarship which includes free tuition fee and laboratory fees. Applicable for one (1) academic year only.

Requirements: Original MCM Cup Top 3 certificate awarded by MCM.

 

MCM Cup Finalist

The scholarship grant is for the 7 remaining teams of the Top 10 finalists of the MCM Cup events specifically Brainmasters, Math Quiz Show and Science Quiz Show.

Benefits: They are entitled to receive 50% scholarship which includes 50% discount on tuition fee and laboratory fee. Applicable for one (1) academic year only.

Requirements: Original MCM Cup Finalist certificate awarded by MCM.

 

Academic Achiever Incentives

The scholarship grant is for the Grade 11 top 20 Students of the previous school year.

Benefits:

Rank 1 to 10 Students (AA FULL)

Students are entitled to receive 100% tuition fee and L/F/D discount for two consecutive terms.

Rank 11 to 20 Students (AA HALF)

Students are entitled to receive 50% tuition fee and L/F/D discount for two consecutive terms.

Bukas Foundation Installment Plan — College

Sponsorship: None

Description: Bukas was founded in February 2019 with the vision of building a better tomorrow for Filipino youths, starting with affordable tuition installment plans. The installment plan allows for full tuition through flexible payment plans in 12 monthly installments with affordable interest rates.

BPI Foundation’s Pagpugay Scholarship Fund — College

Sponsor: BPI Foundation

Description: At BPI, through BPI Foundation (BPIF), they recognize the great contribution of the medical front liners in the fight against COVID-19. To honor their heroic efforts, BPIF offers PAGPUGAY, a scholarship fund program to support the next of kin of the medical front-liners who passed away in the line of duty against COVID-19. Scholarship grants are subject to availability of slots.

Scholarship Eligibility:

  1. Qualified next of kin of the following medical front liners who passed away in the line of duty against COVID-19:
    1. Doctor
    2. Nurses
    3. Medical technologists
    4. Community health workers
    5. Administrative, utility, and support services personnel in health care facilities

If the deceased is married, priority beneficiary is the children. If single, beneficiary can be next of kin up to 2nd degree of consanguinity.

  1. Applicants should be college/university students (1st year-4th year/5th year) of Malayan Colleges Mindanao.
  2. To qualify, eligible students must have and maintain a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 85% or its equivalent and/or prevailing University standards for the previous academic year (for incoming 1st year) or for the previous semester (for incoming 2nd year-5th year).

Application Requirements:

  1. Fully accomplished form.
  2. Endorsement letter, duly signed by the spouse or any relative of legal age and within the second degree of consanguinity from the medical frontliner.
  3. Endorsement letter, duly signed by the authorized representative of the hospital or health care facility where the medical frontliner was assigned
  4. Original or authenticated copies of the following:
    1. Course curriculum
    2. If a child of the frontliner, birth certificate of the applicant
    3. If a sibling of the frontliner, birth certificate of the applicant and the frontliner showing their common parent
    4. If a widow/widower of the frontliner, marriage certificate of the medical frontliner.
    5. PRC ID or License ID of the medical frontliner
    6. Death certificate of the medical frontliner, indicating COVID-19 or complications due to COVID-19 as the cause of death
    7. Latest ITR of parents/guardian of the applicant
    8. Latest previous academic year Transcript of Records or Copy of Grades
    9. Certificate of Good Moral Character
  5. Only the applications with complete requirements will be processed.
  6. Scanned copies of application form and other supporting documents may be submitted. Hard copies will be required once applicants are selected for the scholarship.

Don Antonio O. Floirendo, Sr. Foundation (AOFF)  — BACC

Sponsor: ANFLO Management and Investment Corporation (ANFLOCOR)

Description: AOFF is the CSR arm of ANFLOCOR. This non-stock and non-profit organization gears its services on mainly on participatory community development thru assistance in education, health care, environment, cultural preservation and economic upliftment, moral and social values, and sports. Named after its benefactor, AOFF is reflective of Don Antonio O. Floirendo, Sr. who believes that social responsibility is a vocation which entails more than just effort but good will.

Scholarship Eligibility:

  1. Must be a Filipino citizen, not more than 25 years of age at the date of examination and of good moral character.
  2. Must be a full time 1st to 5th year incoming student of an eligible college or university.
  3. For incoming 1st year, must have a weighted average grade of not less than 80%.
  4. For incoming 2nd year to 5th year, must have a General Percentage Average of not lower than 85%.
  5. Must not have a history of failing or incomplete grade.
  6. Must have fully complete and submitted all application requirements on time.

Application Requirements:

  1. NSO-Certified Birth Certificate (PHOTOCOPY)
  2. Certificate of Good Moral
  3. For incoming 1st year college applicants ONLY:
    1. A certified true copy of the applicant’s high school report card INDICATED GENERAL WEIGHTED AVE OF 80%
  4. For incoming 2nd year to 5th year college applicants ONLY:
    1. A certified true copy of the applicant’s college transcript for all undergraduate course work, ending with the grades of the last attended semester INDICATED GENERAL WEIGHTED AVE OF 85%
  5. For Non-dependent applicants, certifications supporting leadership experience, awards received, and community involvements (PHOTOCOPY)
