In celebration of the 2024 National ICT Month, a grand job fair was held at the SM City Davao – Annex Events Center on June 26, 2024. The event, a significant opportunity for job seekers, was organized in collaboration with several key partners, including the Department of Labor and Employment Region XI (DOLE XI), Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Department of Information and Communications Technology Region XI (DICT XI), AI-BIND, and SM Supermalls.
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) played a pivotal role as a major sponsor, participating academe, and employer. The institution demonstrated its commitment to supporting the ICT sector by providing opportunities for its graduating students, alumni, and the general public.
This year’s National ICT Month is celebrated with the theme “Bayang Digital ang Bagong Pilipinas,” emphasizing the pivotal role of digital transformation in shaping the future of our nation. The job fair served as a key event in promoting this theme, highlighting the importance of ICT in driving economic growth and development.
The event saw the participation of 32 local companies, offering a total of 4,000 job vacancies. The job fair attracted 231 registered job seekers, particularly graduating students and alumni from Mapúa MCM, eager to explore career prospects and network with potential employers. Notably, 50 job seekers were hired on the spot, underscoring the event’s immediate impact on employment.
Engr. Alejandro H. Ballado, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mapúa MCM, conveyed his message of support for the event. He stated:
