In a concerted effort to ensure adherence to educational standards and regulations, the Department of Education (DepEd) conducted a thorough monitoring session of all private schools, guided by the provisions of DepEd Order No. 88, s. 2010. This order, titled “2010 Revised Manual of Regulations for Private Schools in Basic Education,” mandates that private educational institutions be subject to reasonable supervision and regulation by the Department, as specified in Section 25.

The monitoring session, held on June 6, 2024, at the Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) Accreditation Room, was led by the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) through its School Monitoring and Evaluation (SMME) Unit. The team included esteemed Education Program Supervisors: Dr. Janete B. Esteban, Faye Genevieve P. Pasamonte, Ms. Ma. Flora C. Arcenal and Ms. Leah C. Saavedra are all responsible for overseeing private schools within the Curriculum Implementation Division (CID). 

The primary objective of this initiative was to assess the compliance of private schools with DepEd’s established standards and guidelines. This monitoring process is crucial in maintaining the quality of education provided by private institutions, ensuring that they meet the regulatory benchmarks set forth by the DepEd.

Mapúa MCM showcased its unwavering commitment to upholding these standards, providing full cooperation and support to the DepEd monitoring team. During the evaluation, Mapúa MCM was lauded for its exceptional dedication to delivering top-tier education. Notable commendations were given for the institution’s innovative Graduate Tracking System and its state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced laboratories and a comprehensive library. These initiatives demonstrate that Mapúa MCM not only complies with DepEd requirements but also exceeds them, setting a benchmark for educational excellence.

The monitoring exercise underscores DepEd’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education across the country by ensuring that private schools adhere to regulatory standards. It also highlights the role of institutions like Mapúa MCM in setting high standards of educational excellence, benefiting students and the broader educational community.
