The Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) has released a Statement of Gratitude to Congressman Joey Salceda, House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, and 75 Congressmen for approving House Bill 9913 (“An Act Clarifying the Income Taxation of Proprietary Educational Institutions, Amending for the Purpose Section 27 (B) of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997, as Amended”) to secure with finality the grant of the preferential tax rate of 10% for proprietary schools, including the temporarily lowered rate of 1% during the pandemic, under the CREATE Act.

Update as of June 2, 2021
Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao stands with the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) in its call for the immediate rectification of the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) Revenue Regulation 5-2021 (RR 5-2021), which increases the tax rate for proprietary educational institutions from 1% to 25%.
COCOPEA leads in public policy development on behalf of five private education associations that count 2,500 educational and learning institutions.
