MCM Cup 2020 V3.0: The Opening, Dance and Digital Art!
The annual MCM Cup event of Malayan Colleges Mindanao, A Mapúa School (now Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao) has started up again this January 15 – 17, 2020 with the theme ‘Outcomes Beyond Expectations’. Now on its third run, MMCM has opened its doors to 42 schools from all over Mindanao to exhibit their 21st century skills in math, science, arts and sports.
The first day of the MCM Cup 2020 V3.0 began with registration as early as 7 AM. They kicked it off with an Opening Salvo by the Malayan Dance Company who performed both cultural and hip-hop dances to get the audience energized. Masters of Ceremony, Arvy Mallari and Jayderick H. Ferolin, then welcomed all the participants and guests to the event, doing a roll-call of all the institutions present.
Engr. Dodjie S. Maestrecampo, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao began his speech by welcoming all the participants and guests to the MCM Cup 2020, celebrating additional events and contests and reiterating the goal of the event which is to unite all schools and students in Mindanao and give them a platform and stage to shine and show their talents.

The MCM Cup 2020 V3.0 was then officially declared open with the Overall Chairman of the event, Dr. Flora Mae C. Yparraguirre, and President and CEO, Engr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, banging the ceremonial gong to symbolize its beginning.
The first event had commenced with the Cheerdance Competition, wherein 7 schools performed and competed for first place. These schools were Tagum City National High School, Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, Tagum Doctors College, Calinan National High School, Holy Cross of Mintal, San Pedro College, and the University of Immaculate Concepcion.
The winners were then declared with 2nd Runner-Up being the University of Immaculate Concepcion; 1st Runner-Up is Davao City National High School; and the defending Champions of the MCM Cup 2020 Cheerdance Competition is San Pedro College.
At 1 PM, the Hip-Hop Competition began. 15 schools competed in this category, namely Davao Wisdom Academy, Holy Cross of Mintal, Calinan National High School, Sped Bangkal, Jesus Soriano National High School, Philippine Women’s College, Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, Tagum City National High School, Holy Child College of Davao (Mintal Campus), Davao Central College, Mintal Comprehensive High School, Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao, Davao City National High School, Rizal Memorial Colleges, and Assumpta School of Tagum.
The announced winners of the Hip-Hop Dance Competition was Tagum City National High School as the 2nd Runner-Up; Davao City National High School as the 1st Runner-Up; and Rizal Memorial Colleges as the Champions.
Simultaneously, the Digital Poster Making Contest was happening in the Mac Laboratory at the 6th Floor, School Building. Representatives from 16 schools were tasked to create a digital poster based on the theme of this year’s MCM Cup 2020, “Outcomes Beyond Expectations”. The participating schools were Tagum City National High School, Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, Davao City National High School, Talomo National High School, Jesus Soriano National High School, Brokenshire College Toril, Mintal Comprehensive High School, Calinan National High School, Davao Wisdom Academy, Starland International School, Assumpta School of Tagum, Philippine Women’s College, Philippine Science High School Southern Mindanao Campus, Panabo National High School, Holy Child College of Davao, and Wisdom Islamic School.
Winners of the Digital Poster Making Contest will be announced during the Awarding Ceremony on January 17, 2020.
