One Heart, One Malayan 2020: Special Tokens of Love
On February 14, 2020, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao celebrated Valentine’s Day with special tokens found around the school to uplift the community on this day of love.
To start it off, posted on all official MapúaMCM social media platforms was the Hyperlinks Valentine’s Day Special Vlog — a video made for the community by the MapúaMCM Hyperlinks, a creative group under the Corporate Communications Office of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao, wherein they conduct a social experiment centered on the idea of traditional display of affections such as serenading someone on Valentine’s Day. Does it still make you swoon? Or make your heart beat in excitement? Watch them find out in their vlog, posted on the official Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao YouTube account.
Special set-ups were present at different areas of the campus like the #SanaWall and Great Wall of Love placed at the Student Lounge and MapúaMCM Plaza respectively — freedom walls for students to express themselves and post their heartfelt messages on Valentine’s Day. The Library had also prepared a beautiful display of both classic and young adult romance books, poems and self-love books, laying out the diverse collection of MapúaMCM’s books for students to pick and choose from. All of the campus elevators had something special on the buttons where students were given a hint to a song and a QR code to find out more. This QR code, once scanned, brings you to a special Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao Valentine’s Day Spotify Playlist, a musical treat for the students to enjoy.
A trip to the MapúaMCM Canteen showed a varying display of tent cards on each table that displayed a cheesy pun or quote about Valentine’s Day related to an MapúaMCM program/course. To top this all off, a special MapúaMCM Hyperlinks Broadcasting booth was set up beside the Bookstore where they played requested love songs, read out loud messages from the freedom walls, and sent in messages online from the #OneHeartOneMalayan2020 tag on Twitter.
The day was packed full of little gestures and tokens of love for the MapúaMCM Community in order for them to enjoy Valentine’s Day despite the lack of major events.
These tokens were an endeavor acted on by the MapúaMCM Administration, Corporate Communications Office and their sub-group: the MapúaMCM Hyperlinks, and the Office of the Student Affairs.
The MapúaMCM Hyperlinks is a group under the Corporate Communications Office who help the CCO create and manage existing online and physical content, help engage and inform the MapúaMCM community and promote the school and its partners.
