TWO IN ONE: Fusing Technology with Ethnicity in the New Normal

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the life we once knew has come to a halt. With this, several digital events are coming into the spotlight and are now becoming the norm.
This October 2, 2020, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao will be hosting a virtual acquaintance party that is exclusive for Malayans! The MapúaMCM Fusion: Technicity is what every Malayan should look forward to – it has everything you could ever ask for after a stressful week of examinations.
TECHNICITY: What is it?
Technicity is a portmanteau, a made-up word coined after combining the words technology and ethnicity.
In the time of this pandemic, everyone has taken to using technology as a means of engaging in society. In line with this, technicity combines the concepts of technology and culture to make it inclusive and relevant, in order to ensure that no one gets left behind.
Things to Look Forward To
MapúaMCM Fusion: Technicity will be held online on Friday, October 2, 2020 – and we can all agree that this is the perfect date since we get to end our week-long midterm break with a blast!
Several events are in store for us, Mr. And Ms. Staycation being one of those. Here, the participants will get to showcase their looks, wits, and creative nature by presenting their Online Class Inspired Outfit, DIY Personal Protective Equipment, and Sleepwear Eleganza.
MapúaMCM Flicks and Chill will also be in the spotlight, where Malayans get to be proud of their video-making skills and innovatory dispositions. Teams of one to five will be choosing a teaser trailer of any series or films to recreate. Not only does it test their competence in video-making, it also tests their resourcefulness especially now that physical meetups are hard to achieve!
Moreover, there will be an event dedicated for those who love dancing: Show Stopper! Our Malayan dancers better make sure to show their best moves since this will be rolled out in our virtual acquaintance party!
On top of it all, there will be a Vattle of the Vands where the winning band gets to be the opening act for next year’s Battle of the Bands competition.
There’s a lot of things to look forward to such as meeting new friends, sharing laughter and awe, and even learning something new!
The Special Guest Every Malayan Awaits
Of course – how could we forget? The country’s #1 artist and performers, Ben&Ben, will be performing some of their greatest hits exclusively for Malayans! This 9-member band will be sure to knock our socks off no matter live or digital.
It is without a doubt that this band is known by all, Malayans or not. We hear them on our radio, see them on television and concerts, and search them on various media sites! Some of their greatest songs, which I’m sure we’ll be hearing at the event, are known even worldwide such as Kathang Isip, Maybe the Night, Leaves, and Sunrise.
What I can definitely say is that we’re lucky enough to have Ben&Ben as guests for the MapúaMCM Fusion: Technicity, and there’s no doubt that they’ll be getting my heart pumping when I see them on my screen!
To encapsulate everything – this event will truly be a fun and exciting experience for us, Malayans! From the array of events to the special guests, this is the perfect combination of a virtual acquaintance party!
